Integral Gyuto with horizontal tang

Blade and handle are one in this very special hand forged gyuto.The blade, handle, bolsters and unique horizontal tang are all forged out of a single piece of 1.1545(w1) high carbon steel.

The facetted handle has been made from a nicely figured piece of stabalized walnut and is contrasted with two brass pins. 

A differential clay hardening and polishing gives the blade a very subtle hamon that will reveal itself over time with the patina on the carbon steel blade.

The blade has a slightly convex grind into a very thin edge and a distal taper into a thin point for excellent cutting performance.
